The 10 Grossest Things Our Kids Have Ever Done

1

It made ALL of us cringe before we were mothers: kids and the GROSS things they do. Hearing (and sometimes seeing) various tales of older sibling as well as friends who had children we could only conclude one possible thing: OUR kids were never going to do that.

Boy were we wrong.

Today the lovely contributors of Dallas Moms Blog have collaborated to let all Dallas moms know the truth: those horribly gross things your kids do? Ours do ’em, too.

[Drumroll please…]

1. Biting their toenails. Biting fingernails is bad enough – especially for those germaphobes out there! But walking into a room and finding your child chewing the toenails off of her feet? That is truly worthy of shudders.

2. Peeing in the bathwater…then drinking it. This one was a consistent winner among almost ALL of the contributors. The best part? Our kids all totally think it’s funny. Oh yeah, sometimes it’s the younger sibling that ends up doing the drinking, too.

3. Eating dog food. Not only scary, as this usually involves crawling children without teeth, but also disgustingly drooly. After seemingly spending a month peeling chunks of gummy, saliva-covered doggy food bits from the roof of your child’s mouth, it’s time to decide if Fido ACTUALLY needs to eat.

4. Pooping in the bathtub. Peeing in the bathwater is gross, gross, gross. But pooping? Now you’ve got chunks to deal with…and a tub in serious need of bleaching.

5. Picking their boogers…then eating them.  “Please don’t eat your boogies, sweetheart, it’s bad for your tummy.” “But they taste nice and salty.”

6. Regurgitate their food. They chew the food, they decide they don’t like the food, and finally they convince themselves that the only appropriate thing to do is to spit out that half-chewed glop into your hand.

7. Dumping the potty chair into the toilet, dipping their fingers into said toilet, then putting those fingers right into their mouth. Sometimes our mommy reflexes just aren’t fast enough.

8. Putting a finger in the dog’s bottom. Need we say more?

Elephant's Bottom
There’s no doubt about it – kids love butts.

9. Playing with poop. You walk into the bedroom only to see your little angel sitting in a poopy diaper that has leaked all down her legs. She’s is smearing it all over herself and the rug – Huzzah! Another top poopy tale? Having your child put their hand into the back of the diaper to pull out and SHOW you the poop.

10. Eating food out of the garbage can. What little child can resist the allure of fresh, sweet strawberries? Evidently the children of the Dallas Moms Blog contributors. Imagine walking into the kitchen only to find your 20-month old rummaging inside the garbage can and eating all of the mold-covered strawberries she’d seen you throw away moments earlier.
