Many Dallas-area nonprofits operate second-hand shops as a second source of revenue. These stores double as a fantastic training ground for underserved people seeking job skills in retail and management. Not only that, but those served shop for free, too.

Most charity thrift stores accept gently used clothing, toys, housewares, books, furniture, seasonal décor, electronic, appliances, and more. Some even offer pickup services.

Thrift Stores for Dallas Charities

Brighter Tomorrow Thrift Store :: DeSoto :: Brighter Tomorrow’s thrift store supports survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. It accepts gently used clothing, housewares, furniture, and more. Donations may be dropped off Tuesday through Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Genesis Benefit Thrift Store :: Dallas :: The sales from Genesis Benefit Thrift Store allow Genesis Women’s Shelter to house women and children experiencing domestic violence. It accepts clothing for all ages and genders, toys, housewares (think dinnerware, tea sets, holiday decor, art work, etc.) electronics, books, shoes, and furniture. Drop off donations Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00-4:00 p.m. Pickup service can be scheduled depending on your location.

Grace Bridge Resale :: Celina and Frisco :: Grace Bridge distributes school supplies, backpacks, bicycles, and Christmas gifts to youth, as well as operates a food bank and provides disaster relief. These thrift stores accept housewares, appliances, clothes, and more. Drop off at the Celina location Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the Frisco location Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pickup services available.

GRACEful Buys :: Grapevine :: GRACEful Buys supports GRACE which operates a food pantry and provides emergency assistance, healthcare services, and transitional housing. GRACEful Buys accepts toys, clothes, linens, working electronics, books, movies, household items, and more at its donation station, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Its thrift store is at a different location and only accepts furniture. Pickup services can be arranged through the website.

Family Place Resale Shop :: Dallas :: The Family Place Resale Shop supports the work of The Family Place, which provides safe housing and empowering services to survivors of family violence. It accepts clothing, furniture, housewares, toys, shoes, and more. Donated items can be dropped off Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Furniture is accepted only on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pickup services available.

It accepts furniture, appliances, housewares, and even building materials. It has three locations in Dallas and one in Garland. Drop off items at the location nearest you Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Simply Grace Thrift Store :: Richardson :: Simply Grace Thrift Store supports Simply Grace charity, which provides high-quality, affordable living for women recovering from substance abuse. Its thrift store accepts clothing, shoes, appliances, books, and furniture. Donations are accepted Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores :: Dallas and Plano :: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas provides utility and rent assistance, scholarships and free prescriptions to North Texans in need. It accepts appliances, books, toys, and clothing at the Dallas location Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Plano location accepts donations Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pickup services available. If you cannot make it during donation hours, leave your items at one of the 42 drop-off bins located throughout Dallas.

Thrift Giant :: Dallas, Denton, Irving, Lewisville and The Colony :: Thrift Giant supports multiple North Texas nonprofits with its proceeds. It accepts toys, shoes, clothing, housewares, furniture, and more. It offers pickup services and accepts donations at each location from Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

White Rock Lake Center for Hope Thrift Store :: Dallas :: White Rock Lake Center for Hope provides housing and utility assistance, financial and employment services, and operates a food pantry for the locals. It accepts clothing, shoes, accessories, furniture, housewares, and more. Donations accepted Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Large item pickup is available.
