Texas Travel :: Houston

Looking for a big city escape for your family but don’t want to spend the money or time jet-setting off across the country? Houston has the same big city vibes but a much closer commute and is rich in history, culture, and fun to offer families of all ages to enjoy whether you are traveling for a week or a weekend!

Before you start planning your big-city adventure let’s get familiar with the destination. Houston is a quick 3.5 hour-4 hour drive from Dallas or a flight time of 1 hour 15 minutes. Houston is the fourth most populous city in the country with one of the most delicious and diverse culinary scenes. It is home to the famous Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where performers ranging from Elvis Presley to Trace Adkins to Justin Bieber have called the stage home.

Let’s not forget Houston’s contributions to space science and exploration! It is home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the location of the Apollo space missions garnering the nickname Space City. Houston is home to several major sports teams such as the Astros, Texans, Dynamo, Dash, and Rockets.

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Houston. I have a history of family residing within the city limits and it is currently home to my sister and her family which gives my family the excuse to visit on occasion. I love how family-friendly this city is for both big and little travelers and truly offers something entertaining for everyone. I am so excited to share my recommendations and experiences with you as you plan your own family adventure to this great city!
