Dallas Moms Blog received a complimentary stay at the Gaylord Texan in order to write this review. All opinions are 100% our own.

This summer, Summerfest at Gaylord Texan is featuring Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland through September 5, 2016.

If you haven’t had a chance to experience the Gaylord Texan Resort before, now the time. It’s the perfect staycation destination for families and with this family-friendly series of activities and entertainment, kids of all ages will have a great time — and it’s only 20-30 minutes from home!

When you book your trip to the Gaylord Texan this summer, there’s at least 5 things you MUST do: 20160618_214122

20160618_2101121) Stay Up Late & Enjoy a Queen of Hearts Party

Every Friday & Saturday night through September 5th, guests are invited to an Wonderland adventure with the Queen of Hearts. The party includes strolling characters, balloon artists, lively music, and more!

If you’re able to keep the kiddos awake until 9:30pm, make sure to catch the “Breaking Through the Looking Glass” 3D visual light show. The walls of the infamous Gaylord Mission Plaza transform into a spectacular Alice-themed show. All of this is FREE to guests and visitors and takes place in the Lone Star Atrium.

2) Book a Seat with the Mad Hatter!

At various times over each weekend (Friday-Sunday), be the guest of the Hatter! For $25 (+ tax) per person, kids and adults can sit down, put on their souvenir top hat, and enjoy Wonder Punch and cupcakes while being entertained by the Hatter.

These seats go quickly, so make sure to book in advance!

3) Grab Your “This Way & That Way” Scavenger Hunt

Downtime is important, and that why I loved the Summerfest Scavenger Hunt through the Atrium! Visit the Concierge Desk and for $10 (+tax), you can explore the Gaylord looking for clues to find the Cheshire Cats hidden around the atrium. When the hunt’s complete, turn in and win a special prize to take home!

It’s a great way to take a casual walk around the Gaylord and give the kids a purpose.

20160619_1046244) Put on your Swimsuits and Head to Paradise Springs!

The Gaylord Texan has one of the best outdoor water parks in all of Dallas — if not the best! The 10-acre outdoor pools, lazy river, and playground provide a full weekend of entertainment. Add onto this the SoBe Splash Parties and you’re set for some fun in the sun!

SoBe Splash Parties take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There’s a Live DJ, hair braider, airbrush tattoo artist, and underwater photos!

To participate you must be a hotel guest, and pricing for hair braiding and airbrush tattoos vary, but the games and entertainment are free!

5) HAVE FUN!

You’re at a hotel and resort! Have fun with your families and enjoy a little time away from the laundry, dishes, and usual routine!

If you decided to visit, all the above activities and more are available with the Wonderland All-Access Pass for $48 (+tax) per person. You can enjoy the 4D Wonderland Adventure (with unlimited entrance), This Way & That Way Black Light Scavenger Hunt, Hatter’s Tea Party OR Cups & Canvases, and a 6×8 SummerFest Picture.

Krystal Hurst
Krystal is a Dallas-native who began her career as a fourth grade teacher in Richardson RISD, but quickly changed paths to became a stay-at-home mom in 2011. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.
