The Secret to Amazing Skin :: MicroPen Elite

3
We have partnered with EpiCentre of Plano to bring you this post as a thank you for participating in our Real Housewives of Dallas event. All opinions are 100% our own.

I’ve been paying closer attention to my skin lately. I’m my own worst critic (aren’t we all) and I’m noticing some fine lines settling in and showing my age. I’ve heard a lot lately about something called a MicroPen. I have seen it on celebrity Instagrams and a few beauty blogs labeled as a Hollywood skin secret. Its a treatment that can improve the overall texture of your skin, help to diminish fine lines and reduce acne scarring, with immediate results and little to no downtime.

Fast forward to our Real Housewives of Dallas event at Studio Movie Grill. The team from the EpiCentre in Plano was there handing out samples and talking about treatments. There was a lot of buzz about the MicroPen treatment and how incredibly popular it has become in their offices. I was more than interested – I was ready to give it a try!

MicroPen Dallas Moms Blog EpiCentre Before and AfterThe MicroPen Elite is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to help the production of collagen and elastin. Then through the skin’s own repair process, you will start to see a softer appearance of wrinkles. Think of it like aerating the grass – except the grass is your skin. Your skincare products will absorb into your skin better, acne scars will look better, fine lines and wrinkles will look better, your skin will look better.

I shouldn’t have been nervous walking into the EpiCentre, but I was about to lay there and voluntarily ask someone to run a pen full of needles over my face. That sounded straight up mideval. Luckily my aesthetician Tammy is a pro and instantly made me feel at ease. She walked me through the treatment, showed me the MicroPen and set my expectations right away. I was legitimately excited to get my face micro-injured.

She started by applying a topical numbing gel and then set me up in a fancy schmancy massage chair to let the numbing gel kick in. Next it was MicroPen time. #BringOnTheNeedles. It wasn’t painful, but around my hairline was a little sensitive. She adjusted the settings to minimize discomfort and kept going. Two passes over my face with the MicroPen and I was finished.

MicroPen Skincare SkinMedica EpiCentre Dallas Moms BlogAfter the treatment, she talked to me about the importance of using hyaluronic acid on my skin. Basically, hyaluronic acid is what babies are full of – its why their skin is so plump, smooth and perfect. As we age, our hyaluronic acid decreases. So she made suggestions of products that would help me get that “dewy” glow and amplify the benefits of the MicroPen treatment.

I was concerned about how I would look immediately after. I have heard horror stories of people having to “go out the back” after a clinical skin treatment. I can deal with a little pain or discomfort, but I was headed straight to my daughter’s preschool, and didn’t want to frighten the children. I looked like I had been out in the sun a little too long, but it really wasn’t that noticeable. I couldn’t wear makeup after my treatment, but the next day was business as usual. My skin, although pink at first, was smooth and had a glow to it. I can’t wait to see how it continues to change over the next few weeks.

The MicroPen isn’t just for your face. You can even use it to effectively treat scars and stretch marks on the body as well!

While the MicroPen was a great way to treat my specific skin concerns, I know there are a LOT of products and treatments out there and it can be overwhelming. The EpiCentre is a skin care center run by board certified plastic surgeons and well-trained aestheticians that will lead you in the right direction. I wouldn’t trust anyone to come at my skin with a needle, much less a pen full of them – they are experts in their field.

Dallas Moms Blog readers can receive a 15% discount on a MicroPen treatment from now until the end of May! Just be sure to mention this blog post when calling to make your appointment.

The EpiCentre has two locations – one in Dallas at Park Lane & 75, and one in Plano at Spring Creek and Legacy. Pro tip: The Legacy office is super easy to get in and out of, and generally has less of a wait time to get on the schedule for treatments.

To learn more about the The EpiCentre and the skincare services they offer, you can find them online, on Facebook and on Instagram.

**I was invited to try the MicroPen treatment compliments of the EpiCentre in Plano, however, all opinions are my own.**

    • Kristen – the treatments begin at $250 and they are offering DMB readers a discount during the month of May. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  1. I had microneedling done awhile back (with a different product, but the same idea), and the results really do continue to improve. It wasn’t until six weeks from my treatment that I could really tell a huge difference. Glad you loved it, Amanda!
