How to Have a Romantic Valentine’s Day in Dallas :: A Roundup of Local Events

0

Valentine’s Day falls on Tuesday this year, which kind of takes the pressure off celebrating specifically on February 14th. We’ve whipped up a special list filled with sweet ideas starting the weekend before the big day so that you can celebrate whenever works best. Some date nights are just better on the weekend, ya know? Quality time! Shared experiences! Strengthening bonds! Let’s get to it!

Prix Fix Menus and Fun Feasts

February 10-18 :: LAW at the Four Seasons in Las Colinas has two different Valentine’s feasts this year – a 3-course menu for the All You Need is Love Dinner all week and a 4-course offering for their Valentine’s Dinner exclusively on the day. As with all of these recommendations, reservations are pretty much a must, so don’t delay!

February 11 :: Messina Hof Grapevine Winery will host a Valentine’s Day Dinner & Dance which includes a 5-course dinner paired with Messina Hof wines followed by dancing on their intimate dance floor. 7-10 pm, $99 per person.

February 11-14 :: SĒR Steak + Spirits atop the Anatole Hotel in the Design District has several Valentine’s date packages. Dine at a guaranteed window table with live jazz to heighten the mood; indulge your sweet tooth in the Dessert Lounge amidst chocolate fountains and decadent treats; or gaze into each other’s eyes in the Speakeasy Lounge, dancing to flamenco guitar and sipping champagne and craft cocktails. Dinner is from 5-11 pm and the lounges are open from 7-11 pm.

February 14 :: French cuisine = the most romantic, right? Mais oui. Cadot Restaurant in North Dallas will be serving a special 3-course Valentine’s Dinner for $65 per person from 5-9:30 pm.

February 14 :: How about Valentine’s Day Omakase at Uchi in Oak Lawn? Omakase means a meal with dishes selected by the chef, and tonight Uchi serves up a multi-course sweet and savory mixture of their greatest hits for $175. If you are craving Japanese but maybe not at that price point, we hear it’s impossible not to have fun grilling at your own table at the new Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in Addison.

February 14 :: CiboDivino Marketplace in Oak Cliff will be transforming into a full-service restaurant tonight with courses First Kiss, Second Date, Engagement, Marriage and Anniversary from 5:30-8:30 pm. Molto amore! Call for reservations (214) 653-2426 or email [email protected].

February 14 :: The Second Floor at the Westin Galleria has a 3-course menu with optional wine pairings ($125 and $200, respectively). Here the price includes tax, tip, and a red rose that you will definitely hold between your teeth like a tango dancer at some point in the evening.

February 14 :: LARK on the Park is serving a Rapturous Repast from 5-10pm. Dine under the twinkling lights of downtown at night and then stroll arm-in-arm through Klyde Warren Park pretending it’s your first date. 4-courses for $85 per person, with optional wine pairings available.

February 14 :: For an old-school romantic evening, you can’t go wrong with St. Martin’s Wine Bistro on Greenville. Like The Grape, they’ve got that pleasantly dark, cozy little restaurant vibe down pat. Tonight they’ll serve a 4-course menu of classic dishes for $75 per person. You might be the youngest couple there, but that’s truly part of the charm.

February 14 :: Mood lighting and swanky decor come together at Dallas Fish Market downtown, where they will be serving a special 3-course menu for $65 per person/$25 wine pairings. You know what they say about oysters…

Music and Performances (with food, but of course)

February 10-14 :: Dallas By Chocolate has a whole host of different Valentine’s food and drink tours. We’re talking Valentine’s Winery & Jazz Escape, or the “My Funny Valentine” Dinner and Comedy Show Tour, or the Hearts and Chocolates Tour featuring trips to premier chocolatiers, pastry shops, and other sweet spots. Selling points: 1) you get chauffeured to multiple venues in a luxury motorcoach, 2) you can BYOB if you’d like, 3) you have never done a date like this before! Check out the link for the specific deets and locations for each tour.

February 10, 11, 16, 17, 18 :: The Bath House Cultural Center in White Rock Lake Park transforms into a jazzy 1930’s Supper Club for Her Song!, a music and dance revue featuring songs from the great American female songbook. Get all dressed up and step into the past for food, drinks, and craft cocktails inspired by 1935 Supper Clubs. Fun, right? Tickets from $30. Cash only inside the Echo Room because there were no credit cards in 1935, duh.

February 14 ::  Spiderweb Salon pairs up with The Wild Detectives cafe and bookstore for an evening of special DFW artist performances. Coffee, snacks, desserts, and cocktails in an intimate setting. In their own words: “POETRY! MUSIC! ART! ZINES! BOOKS! COFFEE! BEER! LOVE!” Sounds kinda perfect if you’re the bookish sort.

February 14 :: Sweethearts Revue! at Pocket Sandwich Theater. Matt Tolentino & The Singapore Slingers perform popular American sweetheart classics from the 1920s and 30s with arrangements and attire authentic to the era. The theater has a full menu + adult beverages, including champagne. Doors open at 6:15, seating and food service until 7:15. Drinks and desserts also available at intermissions. Tickets $25.

February 14 :: Hold hands and let Gershwin’s most-loved classics sweep you away at Hearts & Horns at the Meyerson Symphony Center. “Summertime,” “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Our Love is Here to Stay”… Piano is good for the soul, and we’re gonna go ahead and say that sleek and smooth trumpet is, too. 7:30-10:30 pm. Tickets from $21.

Other Special Events

February 11 :: The Kessler Theater hosts the Pretty Things PeepShow, a gaudy, bawdy variety/burlesque/comedy/thrill show. Get your tickets starting at $20 for this one-of-a-kind entertainment. Bar opens at 6, doors at 7, showtime at 8.

Special reduced ticket price of $20 per person.

February 14-19 :: Dallas Summer Musicals presents Stomp at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Nothing like some pulse-pounding rhythms to get the romance flowing. Get mesmerized and then make out! Show run time is 1h 40m and tickets start at $15.
