Review: Reusable Training Pants

0

Like contributor Shanna blogged last month, I also recently went thru the “lovely” experience of 3-day potty training.  I’m proud to say the whole family lived to tell about it and we all came out on top.

However, I haven’t quite gotten to the point where I am ready to tackle the overnights with my 2-year-old (the appeal of almost daily linen laundry doesn’t excite me).

My son still uses “training pants” for bedtime.

Although I’m not a user of reusable diapers (let’s blame that laundry-resistance again), I did decide to made the jump to reusable training pants.  My thought process is that poo is less likely in these pants post-potty training.

Also, some of the reusable pants look just like underwear, so it’s not too confusing to my son who has worn underwear all day long and “thrown away diapers”.

After trying several brands, here are my two favorites:

PT_carsBlueberry Trainers:

I like these pants because they look and feel like underwear.  However, the extra padding on the Blueberry trainers ensures my sheets will be saved if there is an overnight accident.  My son is also a big fan of the fun prints, like dinosaurs and guitars and (especially) the “race cars”.  Retail: $15.95 /pant and available online here.

grovia_trainer_cloud_2GroVia My Choice Trainers:

The GroVia trainers are a hit for me because the inner-liner uses technology that lets my son know when he is wet (essential to the potty-training process, in my opinion) while still being absorbent.  The GroVia system also sells side panels in different sizes, so the child has a better custom fit.  I do wish the pants came in prints instead of just solids, but I still think this pant is a winner.  Retail: $18.99/pant and available here.

Do you use reusable training pants?  What brands do you like?
