Restaurant Review :: Chilada’s Fresh Mex + Giveaway

There’s a fabulous “new” family-friendly, family-owned restaurant in town, and it’s one you must try!

ChiladasSalad

Located in Plano on Windhaven Parkway & the Dallas North Tollway, with a second location in Dallas at Lovers Lane & the Dallas North Tollway, Chilada’s Fresh Mex is a fresh take on your standard Tex-Mex.

They do not use bagged or frozen ingredients in any of their food. It’s all 100% farm-fresh! All their meats are marinated in-house and grilled to serve that day without using any preservatives (because there’s no need for them!)

There’s definitely a difference in taste and quality between some of those other places who claim their ingredients are fresh versus a restaurant who’s dicing and cutting up their veggies that day. The bold flavors and freshness really come out in their ingredients in items like their homemade guacamole. There’s chopped avocado and red onion gently mixed in, topped with crisp bacon, crumbled cheese, and diced tomatoes. (By the way…I don’t like guacamole, and I ate almost a whole bowl!)

ChiladasTacosOther items I’ve had on their menu include the Carnitas Tacos with shredded cheddar and jack cheeses and pickled onion on soft flour tortillas. (Don’t be afraid when little pink things arrive on your taco. That’s the pickled onion and it’s very flavorful!) The Grilled Chicken Tacos with cheddar and jack cheeses with cilantro on soft corn tortillas are just as tasty!

I’ve even gone healthy and had their Grilled Chicken Ensalada with chopped romaine, grilled chicken, and cheeses topped with their house Toasted Cumin and Cilantro Vinaigrette. (Another side note…on one occasion I accidentally ate half my salad without any dressing because I thought the dressing was already mixed in. It was that good!)

ChiladasChurrosBut do not leave without trying their churros. Ladies. They serve them with a side of chocolate dipping sauce. Enough said.

If someone were to describe the meals at Chilada’s Fresh Mex, I’d easily expect to spend at least $10 a plate. Although they don’t compromise on the quality, they don’t over charge either! Meals will average between $6-8 per person and each table receives complimentary chips and salsa.

Their kids menu is just as affordable with kid-friendly options like a soft taco, quesadilla, enchilada, or grilled cheese on Texas toast; all served with a side of rice and a small drink.

So, grab the kids and give Chilada’s a try the next time you’re looking for a causal, friendly environment! You can even head to their Windhaven location to enjoy the cooler nights with your family out on their enormous Patio! (And enjoy $2 margarita happy hours from 4-7!)

**This post was not compensated; however, Chilada’s graciously donated a large amount of food for our DFW Moms Night Out event and hosted all of our DMB contributors for our quarterly meeting, so we wanted to say thank you by sharing their delicious food with you! All opinions are 100% my own and you will find my family eating here again…often.
