Raise your hand if you”re already dreaming of fun in the sun after this icy winter!

Preferably somewhere with plenty of water play to burn off the kids’ energy. You might be thinking, as I did, that we are still months away from visiting water attractions. Fortunately, this is actually a great time to visit Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels!

If you are my age, you might remember Schlitterbahn as “the” place to go during the summer as a teenager for amazing water park rides and fun. And it still is! Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark is the #1 Waterpark in the World for 15 Consecutive Years.

Located on the banks of the spring-fed Comal River in New Braunfels, TX, Schlitterbahn’s flagship Waterpark has 40 attractions over 70 acres. But did you know that Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has a resort as well? The Resort at Schlitterbahn is open year-round and offers the beauty of a Hill Country Getaway for the whole family. Hotel rooms, Treehaus Luxury Suites, and a seven-room house make Schlitterbahn Resort perfect for any type of vacation, including large families and family reunions.

What can we do during the off-season at Schlitterbahn? I was surprised at the number of options!

First of all, there are 5 heated pools on the resort property: West Wing, Boogie Bay and Gator Bowl. For younger children, like mine at 3 and 4 years old, any kind of pool is a water adventure in itself. For adults: a hot tub in the West Wing section and a swim-up bar at the Biergarten heated pool.

For older children or adventurous little ones, the Blastenhoff section of the park will be open during Spring Break (March 8-16) this year, including these rides: Master Blaster, Wolfpack and Black Knight.

In the area surrounding the resort:

Volleyball Court

Horseshoes

BBQ Pits and Picnic Areas

Hiking and Fishing

And don’t forget that the Schlitterbahn Resort is only miles from the historic town of Gruene, Texas! It’s one of our favorite little getaways, with antique shops and delicious homestyle food at restaurants like The Grist Mill. On weekend evenings, you can catch plenty of live country music and dancing.

Our family definitely can’t wait for Spring Break at Schlitterbahn! Now, to start swimsuit shopping…
