Pink Ribbon Beauty

I can remember the exact moment my Mom told me she had breast cancer. I was sprawled out on the back end of my car, proudly putting on my new A&M bumper sticker.  I had just returned from a college visit and couldn’t have been more excited.  My Mom stepped out of the front door, tears welling up, and I immediately sensed these were not “happy tears.”  The words that were about to come out would turn our lives upside down. “I have to tell you something… I have breast cancer.”

How was I supposed to go to college when life was so uncertain at home?  Why did this happen to my mom? She was so sweet, kind, and healthy.

College is great for expanding your world.  I soon realized that I was not the only one with a mom who was sick at home.  In fact, most people I met had been touched by this horrific disease in some way.  I wasn’t alone and could share my thoughts and insecurities with so many people in our college town.  It was a much needed support group.

I’m thrilled to say it’s been 13 years, THIRTEEN!! My brave and strong mom is now “Jammie” to my 2 kids.  We are so incredibly lucky that she won the battle.  As a thankful daughter, I always look forward to October, as it is breast cancer awareness month.  It gives me pleasure to see all the amazing companies that raise money for breast cancer research during this time. Today I walked into Ulta and was SHOCKED by all the fabulous products that give back. Here are pictures that I took as I strolled around the store.

It’s nice to see all the pink; it’s also nice to know so many folks care.  So make this the month that you stock up on beauty products! Know that while you are making yourself beautiful, you are helping others too!

Do you have a cause you feel passionate about?

How did you get involved?

*I was not given any products, discounts, or perks by Ulta. Just a person touched by breast cancer, who loves seeing all the pink ribbons out there.
