Neighborhood Favorites: Why We Love East Richardson

0

This summer will mark six years of living in DFW. We moved here from Chicago and really didn’t know much about the metroplex or the best places to live. Based on recommendations from a few friends and family members and a bit of a wish and a prayer, we found a house in Richardson, a northern suburb of Dallas. I’m so grateful we did! We love our East Richardson neighborhood, Yale Park, and the surrounding area. Below are a few of my favorite things about where we live in Richardson.

Convenient Location

We are just north of downtown Dallas and all that it has to offer. Additionally, our neighborhood is close to 75 (Central) and the George Bush Turnpike, giving us easy access to everywhere in DFW.

Richardson Parks

I think we have the best playgrounds and parks around. The Spring Creek Nature Area Trail offers miles of shaded paths and an abundance of nature and wildlife. I’ve seen raccoons, opossums, coyotes, bobcats, skinks, horny toads, and more on my runs through the trails! The playgrounds at Yale Park, Foxboro, Fox Creek, Lookout, and Crowley Park are favorites of my children and their friends. And just a little farther away is Breckinridge Park with even more trails, creeks, picnic areas, and a playground!

CityLine

The CityLine development offers housing, shopping, restaurants, and more. Additionally, they have live music and BOHO markets on the weekends in the fall and spring, occasional movie nights, and even some Dallas Moms events! There is also a cute birthday photo op for toddlers with the large building numbers out front (1–3).

City of Richardson Core District

The City of Richardson has been working hard to revitalize the downtown area and Core District. With old classics like Del’s and newer favorites like Lockwood Distilling Co, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company, Industrial Pizza, and sweet treats from Isabelly’s, there is something for everyone close by!

Richardson Festivals

Richardson is host to some amazing art and music festivals every year. Check out the Huffhines Art Trails, Wildflower Festival, and Cottonwood Art Festival.

Richardson Restaurants

Richardson has a lot to offer when it comes to dining out. Some of our favorites include the incredibly family-friendly Hat Creek, dumplings at Jeng Chi, and Mexican food from Desperados, Dos Charros, or Amigos.

The People

We have met the very best people and made some amazing friends here. From church to school to parks to sports teams, we’ve met friends in so many different places.

More to love about living in Richardson!
