My 2022 Texas Travel Bucket List

0

My goal for 2022 is to travel more often. More road trips. More experiences. And more memories. But instead of focusing on particular destinations, these Texas travel plans are based on priorities I have for the coming year. Here’s how I’ve paired the values I’m focusing on in 2022 with fun Texas getaways.

Texas Travel Bucket List

ADVENTURE :: A trip to try something new

Life can sometimes feel so routine. I like routine, but too much of it is suffocating. And as part of a family of five, the idea of traveling somewhere new can sometimes feel daunting. It’s a lot of work without the guarantee that your family will enjoy themselves. To the momma who is struggling with the idea of stepping outside the box, do it!

My Texas travel wish: Visiting Palo Duro Canyon for some hiking. Since we aren’t a camping kind of family, I think renting a place in Amarillo could be the best way to introduce hiking to our boys.

PEACE :: A trip to relax with friends

If there’s anything I’ve learned to value in the last couple of years, it’s the importance of slowing down. You don’t need to leave Texas to find some of the most beautiful and serene destinations. And I’d challenge you to consider a trip without the family. Kids and relaxation don’t always go hand-in-hand. To the momma who feels guilty about a weekend away, let me reassure you that it is completely healthy to take care of yourself.

My Texas travel wish: A girls’ weekend in Fredericksburg is never a bad idea. With wineries, the small-town feel, and the local shopping, Fredericksburg is an easy escape for some rest and relaxation.

TRADITION :: A trip to somewhere familiar

Some of my favorite family vacations are the ones that we have done year after year. There’s a rhythm that exists when you become acquainted with an area. And while travel planning is work, this kind of trip can become one of the easiest ones to plan. Over time, you find your favorite places to frequent and quickly figure out the places to avoid. To the momma who is unsure about the investment in the same trip every year, I get it. Remember that traditions can be what make families stronger.

My Texas travel wish: A return trip to Austin, where we eat HomeSlice pizza, visit the Thinkery, and hang out at Zilker. I’ll be sure to do some shopping at The Domain and on South Congress.

LOVE :: A trip to spark romance

closeup of couple holding hands from Texas travel bucket listIt can be hard to prioritize our romantic relationships, especially in the midst of parenthood. But do it anyway. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible. If remaining close to the kids is important, consider making this trip more of a staycation; Dallas and Fort Worth have plenty to offer. To the momma who dreams of a weekend away with her significant other, take this as your sign to plan something sweet.

My Texas travel wish: A Fort Worth staycation to celebrate our anniversary. We want to visit Restore + Revive Wellness Center for some massages, stay at Hotel Drover, and have dinner and drinks at Reata’s rooftop patio.

If Texas travel is at the top of your bucket list this year, may it be exactly what you need. And don’t forget, it’s not a Texas road trip if you don’t stop at Buc-cee’s
