It Doesn’t Get Much More Texan Than This

2

Hi!  Since I’m another new contributor here, I thought I’d start by introducing myself as well.  My name is Amanda.  My sign is Scorpio.  And if you ask my step-kids how old I am they will say ’26, no 27?’, get confused and then try to ask me my birth date to calculate my real age.  Sneaky step-kids!  Let’s just go with 26, can we?  I’m not quite willing to give up on my twenties yet, no matter what the calendar says.  Yes, yes… ’embrace your age and be proud’… yada, yada.  But I’m more the ‘you are how old you feel’ type of person!

Anyway where was I?  Yes — about me!  I’ve lived in Dallas for over 12 years now, although the rest of my family (sadly) lives in New Mexico and Seattle.  About 6 years ago I met the love of my life, a man who makes me laugh every single day, who watches The Walking Dead and Real Housewives of NYC with me (mostly because he’s obsessed with NYC, but still), who is an amazing father to his two kids, Nick (14) and Izzy (10), who moved us into a loft in downtown Dallas in 2007, and who then gave me the most adorable baby boy, Miles Giovanni, in July of 2010.

Immediately we were bombarded with questions on when and where we were going to be moving.  But with the housing market the way it was (and is) we decided that if people in New York City and Sweden (isn’t that where Ikea furniture is from?) could do it, then so could we.  With a little help from Ikea of course!

Since my husband happens to be as good at interior design as he is at being a husband and father, this is our loft!

Honestly, I don’t know how you people with a house do it.  Chasing after Miles is exhausting!  But no matter where I am in our loft — we are always in the same room!  And since he doesn’t walk but RUNS, and he’s into EVERYTHING, one room has proved to be quite helpful!

I do realize we seem pretty insane to some people.  And plenty of people have let us know just how crazy we appear to be, but we really do love loft living!  I feel like it’s a great experience for the kids.  Yes, we are give up some things — like a yard and a garage.  But our amenities are also pretty awesome — rooftop pool (!) and downtown Dallas right out our front door.  We make it to every parade Dallas has to offer and we don’t have to worry about parking! It’s not for everyone but it’s perfect for us!

So, let me apologize for my long winded introduction.  I get a little wordy trying to justify living downtown.  Not that I need to justify it, but… see, there I go again.

Anyway, on top of everything else we have going on with a toddler and the new puppy, my parents are currently in town for a visit!  I treasure their visits more than anything.  We spend our time laughing, shopping, cooking enchiladas and taking Miles to the park to get out some of his never ending energy.

And, since at this point, you’re probably wondering what the title of my post could possibly be about, let me explain.  See, my dad has been true Dallas Cowboys fan his entire life, so when we found out that you can take a tour of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium we called and booked it for the very next day!

The VIP tour is a guided tour through the stadium, Jerry Jones’ viewing room, some of the private suites, the art work, the locker rooms and then the field!  There are a million different awesome facts about this place that you will have to take the tour to get.  I do apologize, but I was a tad busy trying to entertain a bored 1 1/2 year old and can’t remember a single thing that was said.  But I did manage to get a few pictures.

We definitely recommend going if you get a chance… it doesn’t get much more Texan than being a true Dallas Cowboys fan!  And while Miles was bored through most of the VIP tour, he did have a blast running around the field till his legs wore out!  And don’t forget your football!
