iPic Theaters in Fairview

My husband and I always ask ourselves, “What did we do before kids??”  Even though our oldest is only three, we have quickly forgotten what it was like to have the freedom to do what we wanted, when we wanted to do it.

One thing we definitely can remember about those days, though, is how often we went to the movies. Before kids, we were those people who saw every movie in the theatres. We have even been known to do a double-header on occasion if we couldn’t decide which one to see. But now that we have children, going to the movies…well, it just doesn’t happen much anymore. By the time we hire a babysitter or drop the kids off at Parents’ Night Out at church, we’ve only got a couple of hours before we’ve got to get back to the kids. This means we usually just end up going out to eat. And while we love a good meal and great conversation sans kids, we miss going to see the latest movie that everyone {that is, everyone without kids!} is talking about.

Enter iPic Theaters. Think Studio Movie Grill but a little more upscale. There are two sets of seats- Premium and Premium Plus. If you are a member {sign up is free}, then for just a $1.50 more per ticket than the closest AMC Theatre, you get a Premium seat. The Premium seats are all reserved, so you don’t have to worry about getting there extra early for a good seat. You pick your seats online, which is a must for when you have kids. I don’t know about you, but we are never anywhere early these days! The Premium seats also have large, comfortable leather chairs. Before the movie you can purchase the theater’s Chef prepared, grab & go food and drink and enjoy them during the movie.

Our favorite option, though, is to upgrade for $5 more to the Premium Plus seats. There are only a handful of these seats located in the back of the theater. The Premium Plus tickets include plush, fully reclining chairs, and even a pillow and blanket! Seriously. It is just like flying First Class! Again, all seats are reserved so there is no rush to get to the movies early. Also with this option, you each get popcorn and in-theater service for the first 20 minutes of the movie. So, instead of getting the food before you go in, you have a waiter that takes your order and serves you during the movie. And, the food is outstanding. I crave their barbecue chicken flatbread and Trey loves the sliders with truffle oil fries.

Overall, the going to a movie at iPic is such a fun experience. The Wall Street Journal  even says theaters like this are going to be the new way Americans want to see movies. We get to relax in our big, reserved chairs, watch a movie and eat yummy food. It is our new favorite date spot for sure! The one in our area is the iPic Theatres in The Village at Fairview. Where’s Fairview, you ask? I didn’t know either, but it is just north of Allen on Highway 75. The iPic Theaters are located in the new Village shopping center just across from the Allen In-N-Out Burger.

If you haven’t been to iPic Theaters, give it a try on your next date night. It’s a great way to have dinner and see a movie when you’re crunched for time. If you go, let us know what you think!
