Your Mom-Friendly Summer Wardrobe

Dresses

The versatile dress – The Rincon, from Athleta, comes in three colors. I wear the black one often and it can be paired with cute sneakers like these from Cole Haan or dressed up a bit with some fun wedges for date night. Toss on a cardigan or denim jacket and flats and wear it to the office.

Another great option is this one from REI that comes in several colors. My sister-in-law has dressed it up for a wedding and also used it casually as a swimsuit cover-up.

The Marlow Maxi Dress is another fave – the side slit gives some extra airiness in the summer and the fit has a bit of a Grecian vibe.

This t-shirt dress is an easy throw-on with sandals or sneakers. I picked it up in camo at the local Gap outlet but they still have it online in a number of options. A longer version that I loved is also available at Target from Universal Threads.

Shorts

The Trekkie shorts from Athleta are easy to hike in but can be paired with a cute top for a night out. Again, easy to be dressed up and down. Hidden pockets are great for cash or a small snack.

For easy denim cut-off shorts, these Madewell ones are a great option.

I got a targeted Instagram ad for these Spanx Sunshine shorts and I love them – super flattering and slimming. I chose the navy and the black camo for their versatility.

Tops

Vince Camuto has never steered me wrong. Their tops are typically cute, somewhat forgiving, and they last. This is one of my favorites for this season. But I have three draped-front in several colors from years ago that I wear all the time!

For t-shirts, I’m a huge fan of solid v-necks from Old Navy or J. Crew.

Pants

White jeans are a must for summer and I usually buy mine from Old Navy because frankly I’m messy and they’ll likely only last a season. But I wear them so often that I don’t care.

And, these lightweight joggers are perfect for lounging around the house but are cool enough for summer. If you’re dealing with mosquitos and don’t feel like bug spray, they are a great thin option for pants.

A few other must-haves

I’m obsessed with the Marlow Romper from Athleta. It fastens in the front which I love. And, while I am not nursing, it might be an option with the button – test it out for that if you’re in that season of motherhood. I wore it to Disney last month and it didn’t show sweat and I didn’t feel frumpy after a long day at the park.

If you haven’t checked out Albion Fit for their swimsuits, I can testify that they are amazing. My go-to is this one. The color is vibrant and the fit is cute!

Lastly, I find that moms are constantly switching out from a diaper bag to a beach bag or other forms to carry all the things. I used to always misplace my keys or wallet. But now that I’ve got a Bandolier I can have my phone, keys, and wallet all together to toss in my pool bag at once.

Moms deserve to feel confident! Think about which pieces make the most sense to add to your wardrobe for summer!
