The Omni Dallas Hotel hosting Dallas Moms Blog & fellow City Moms Blog Network Site Owners at #SisterSiteConf16. As a thank you, we’re providing this review & giveaway. All opinions are 100% our own!

Have you ever thought what it might look like to host moms in Dallas? Where would you take them to eat? What would you do to show off our fabulous city? This past Fall I was asked to do exactly that! In October 2015, City Moms Blog Network chose Dallas to host our Sister Site Conference for over 40 sister sites across the country. As the sole owner of Dallas Moms Blog (and CMBN Resource Coordinator) I was put to the task of touring local hotels for the conference and scouting out local restaurants for “girls nights”, working lunches, and happy hours. **Which was impressive because I was due with my 3rd boy just 3 weeks later!**

While all the attendees were site owners coming into town for an inspiration, up-lifting, and educational weekend — we’re also ALL moms who just got a weekend away from our kids to spend with friends. As a Dallas resident, I couldn’t imagine a better location to host this amazing weekend than at the Omni Dallas Hotel in Downtown Dallas. {We even voted it one of the top 3 hotels for an overnight date night.}

IMG_0846From the moment you walk into the Omni Dallas, you know you’re somewhere special. Every detail was carefully considered from the hyper-local art in the lobby and guests rooms to the environmentally-friendly landscaping and amenities (which is how they earned the Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council).  It was the perfect stay for a girls weekend, but also makes the perfect staycation destination for your family. RoomArt224-sm

I had the luxury of spending 4 full days exploring the property and all the amenities it offered. If you’re the type that enjoys staying on site and taking advantage of all that your hotel offers, then this is your hotel! You really don’t ever HAVE to leave! {Except that you do have to checkout at some point.} The Omni Dallas has 3 main restaurants in addition to several full-service bars and lounges, and even a coffee shop, Morsel’s.

Texas Spice is by far my favorite as it’s 100% authentic Texan. They use local ingredients sourced from local farms all within 150 miles of the Dallas-Forth Worth area. Menus will vary by season, but you’ll find a wide range of southern-style steaks, flatbreads, and salads.

But don’t get me wrong! You cannot go wrong if you choose to head to local favorite Bob’s Steak & Chop House or The Owner’s Box – an amazing sports bar with a 16 foot screen surrounded by multiple LCD HDTV’s — all on the first floor of the hotel.

A Little Pampering

If you’re looking to indulge, make sure to make an appointment at Mokara Salon & Spa. Treatments include massage, manicures, facials, and signature body treatments. What I love:: It’s your one stop shop for local beauty favorites too like Niven Morgan.

Spa Manicure Pedicure Room

Sitting in a spa is a great way to relax, but so is sitting by the pool. While it was a little too chilly to hang out in one of their 4th Floor cabanas, it didn’t stop me from taking a little dip in their year-long heated outdoor infinity pool.

**Bringing the kids? Here’s a hint! At check-in, ask for the Omni Sensational Kids program. Each child will receive a backpack full of entertainment, games and goodies for your stay. The backpack includes: Activity book with healthy snack recipes and games, twisty tomato straw, memory match-up cards, and crayons. Plus, on their first night at the hotel, kids will also receive milk& cookies delivered to the room!

Discovering Downtown Dallas

Even though I’ve lived in Dallas my whole life, exploring Downtown never gets old. Not only is it always changing, but I love seeing these same attractions through my kids’ eyes. If you’re curious what there is to do within walking distance/short cab ride of the Omni Dallas…here’s your list!

  • Sixth Floor Museum
  • Klyde Warren Park
  • Nasher Sculpture Center, Crow Collection of Asian Art, & Dallas Museum of Art
  • West End Historic District
  • Reunion Tower
  • Perot Museum of Nature & Science

I loved showing off my city to an amazing group of women and the Omni Dallas was the perfect background to a fabulous weekend with friends. I know I’ll be back soon with my own local friends and family.

Krystal Hurst
Krystal is a Dallas-native who began her career as a fourth grade teacher in Richardson RISD, but quickly changed paths to became a stay-at-home mom in 2011. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.
