Mayor of Kingstown + Maple & Motor

If you love Yellowstone or anything produced by Taylor Sheridan, you will love binge-watching Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount. I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m in for anything starring Jeremy Renner.

The story follows a small-town working family. It unflinchingly addresses the problems found in our American prison systems. Power, crime, politics, and corruption are the main themes in this crime thriller. Season two is set to return in January 2023.

You need some really great fries to watch this series. (You will understand once you watch.) Head to Maple & Motor for its award-winning fries and burgers.

Peaky Blinders + The Crafty Irishman

Sign me up for a good Irish period piece anytime! Set in post-WWI England, Peaky Blinders follows a family of anti-heroes that you will ultimately end up cheering for. The unique and iconic costumes and sets will whisk you away and wrap you up in these bad guys and their chaotic lives. You can find this six-season series on Netflix.

Watch this one while dining on take-out brunch from The Crafty Irishman. Its menu includes traditional Irish fare like shepherd’s pie and Scotch eggs.

Ted Lasso + Fish & Fizz

Literally one of my top five shows of ALL TIME, Ted Lasso will make you laugh, cry, yell, and sigh — all in the same episode. American football coach Ted takes over an English football team and introduces us to a cast of characters you will love. However, your loyalty will be put to the test, so be careful when picking a favorite character. The season three premiere date has not been released.

I’ve been told that Fish and Fizz in Richardson has the best fish and chips in town. You need this iconic English dish with Ted!

The Bear + Jimmy’s

The Bear, released in 2021, features the story of a chef who returns home to take over the family restaurant. Addiction, family, and food are the three big players in this award-winning series on Hulu. I think you’ll find it easy to identify with at least one of the characters and the troubles they face, maybe more. Season two is set to be released in 2023.

Pair this show with Jimmy’s in East Dallas, which offers fine Italian imports, a deli, fresh meats, and sausages. It has the best sandwiches you will ever eat!

The Man in the High Castle + Liberty Burger

I obsess over any period piece featuring a stellar cast of actors. The Man in the High Castle is an alternative history series about the aftermath of World War II had the Axis Powers won. Japan and Germany have literally divided our nation into halves and created a dystopian reality that characters must cope with. The ending will make you doubt everything you know up to that point! Four seasons are currently available to watch on Amazon Prime.

I suggest getting an all-American meal at Liberty Burger from one of its many locations in DFW. My favorite menu item is the The Nooner (it’s loaded with hash browns, bacon, and a fried egg).

The Sex Lives of College Girls + Cane Rosso

Stuck at home sick one weekend, I found this hilarious series, The Sex Lives of College Girls on HBO Max. The story follows four amazing female leads as they experience life at Essex College. Be ready to enjoy completely inappropriate humor that will take you back to being an irresponsible college kid just trying to understand how to adult. The excellent season two was just released.

You will want a saucy, cheesy pizza for this series. Head to Cane Rosso and get the Honey Badger to go.

Turner and Hooch + Hot Dogs

80s babies will love the series Turner and Hooch. It follows the son of Scott Turner (played by Tom Hanks in the movie) who works as a detective in a cute small town. Family-friendly and charming humor makes this series an all-around crowd-pleaser. Although only approved for one season, you will not be disappointed in this remake.

When watching a show about dogs, I obviously recommend a hot dog! Check out this article to see some local faves.
