One of my favorite things to do is to schedule great family activities for our weekly family day. Honestly, as a mom of two toddlers, these family days sometimes happen every other week just due to timing and seeing if the kids are in the “mood.”

Coming up first is Maddi’s Fridge, based on the book by Lois Brandt, focusing on the real-world issue of childhood hunger and food scarcity. The Network of Community Ministries will have information available for those who might be experiencing financial troubles or food scarcity themselves.  This is a great place to gather information to help friends or anyone you may know who is struggling or in the midst of hard-times.

Giving Back with the Eisemann Center

Drop off a grocery bag full (4-6 items) of non-perishable edible goods to the Eisemann Center, ER Near Me or Network of Community ministries, and receive a Buy One, Get One Free promo code to Maddi’s Fridge, performed by Childsplay Theater on Tour, Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 2:30 pm in the Hill Performance Hall. Non-perishable donations brought to the Eisemann Center Ticket Office on the day of the performance will receive a 20% discount promotional code to  Pete the Cat on Sunday, November 24, 2019.

So grab the family, get an empty grocery bag, fill it up with non-perishable items and head out to the performance! If you’re looking for a way to teach your children a lesson on giving back as we head into the season of giving, this is a great option WHILE having a fun family day. Memories will be shared, lessons will be taught, but most importantly lives will be impacted through the generosity of people helping families have food to eat.

As you look for activities to fill your fall calendar, make sure to add this one to your list! This is a great way to teach an important lesson to your kiddos and effect change in the community. Enjoy! Feel free to come back and comment your thoughts on the show!
