“Now You See Me”
Life Skill Focus: Public Speaking
Prepare to be dazzled and amazed! All magicians must be great verbal and non-verbal communicators. In this workshop, students engage in public speaking through magic. Students will learn by doing as they develop their own magic trick. Students will pull together a magic performance using the skills and techniques learned in the workshop.
Life Skill Focus: Learn to Learn
Practical effects popular in old Hollywood movies are quickly making a comeback as producers attempt to find more interactive and realistic effects for actors. In Practical FX (PFX), students will build simple machines, play with fire, and create hydraulic robots. Through navigating a series of independently selected challenges, they establish fundamental skills in constructing practical effects. Each pathway of tasks is unique to the student navigating it, inspiring independence and ownership of the workshop. Those who successfully complete PFX will have mastered the ability to read, interpret, and follow directions independently of adults.
