My life has been a roller coaster. And from a person that is not fond of roller coasters, let me be the first to say- it’s been awesome! Each day is a chance to begin anew.
I first picked up a camera my junior year in high school with a keen interest in the creative side of shooting abstract and developing film in a darkroom. Back in the olden days 🙂 Then life including college, workforce, marriage and kids happened. The next time I picked up a camera was when my first born was about 3 years old. My love for photography grew after having my boys. Roman, Christian and Aaron. Rightfully so, RC PhotogrAphy is named after them. They are my greatest inspirations and motivations.
Right before Roman turned three-years-old I realized I loved capturing all the little candid moments and started experimenting with natural light and studio photography. Natural light is my passion. Fast forward five years later to Christians birth, at my home, I realized I loved the labor and birth process and my husband was able to capture some great moments documenting that experience. Again, I was in love. Finally, in 2015 with the birth of my third son, Aaron, I decided my photography needed to keep growing and changing (like all things do!).
I have many goals in mind and many directions that I am going in and I’d love to be a part of your journey. I have spent time studying and educating myself in the art of lifestyle photography. I get joy from capturing and freezing time in special milestones like the day you announce to the world the love you feel for your partner or the birth of your child or even in the most mundane quite moments in life. My heart will always be in documenting a woman’s labor and birth. This is the day you bring a tiny human being into the world. It is worthy of documenting just like any other milestone in your life. I didn’t want those fleeting moments to be so easily forgotten so I started documenting them. Hi, I am a lifestyle/documentarian photographer who specializes in capturing babies, children, teens and families.
I attended the University of North Texas and received a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television and Film. In 2011, I received a Master’s in Ed. Technology. My first thought was I would teach technology/videography at a High School level, but I fell in LOVE with photography after my 1st daughter was born. She came into the world with the most beautiful red hair and striking blue eyes, needless to say, her Dad, her grandparents and myself were shocked! I picked up a cheap Kodak camera and never stopped taking pictures. Over the years I have self taught through online workshops, upgraded to a professional Canon Mark iii, purchased several fancy lens and just have gotten better by good ol’ fashion practicing. I have 3 children ages 12, 10 and 8 who always give me a good reason to shoot what I see! 🙂 I love what I do, which I think truly shows in my work. Photography and children inspire me. I am so grateful to be a given a gift to see the world the way I do.
