I want to make a public profession here on this platform while I have the shot. I have not had a consistent beauty care routine or products I can’t live without until my 30s. MY 30S!!!
I have struggled with my complexion since puberty, but I never consistently did anything about it (except complain, of course). Now that I am older (and a heck of a lot wiser), I have found an entire world of products that I absolutely cannot live without. In all fairness, I didn’t want to just assume everyone has the same routine as me, so here is a list I compiled with the help of our beautiful Dallas Moms team.
baby Bum (Sun Bum) Sunscreen
Please tell me you are wearing sunscreen every day. I beg you to please add this to your morning routine if you aren’t already. I have opted for the baby Bum brand for a couple reasons: it is safe for my kids and the earth, it is a company started by moms, and it feels great on my skin. It gives great coverage and isn’t oily at all. They have a regular sunscreen tube but also a face bar that I keep in my diaper bag just in case.
Beautycounter Charcoal Bar
I know I am not the only Beautycounter fanatic around here. I love every product I have tried, honestly! The charcoal bar was my first dip in the pond, and I have used it every day since. I have one in the shower for my every day soap, and I keep one by my sink to help wash my face when needed. It is the cleanest soap I have ever used, pun intended. It is the first face soap I have used that has helped keep my face clear of blemishes while not drying it out.
(In an effort to not make this blog entirely about Beautycounter products, please also try the charcoal mask a couple times a week… WOW! That will make your skin completely new. My full Beautycounter nightly routine is this: charcoal bar to get things started, cleanse with the Countercontrol Clear Pore Cleanser, Overnight Resurfacing Peel, Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion, and finally the Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream. It could be a placebo effect, but I feel incredible when I am all done.)
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
One of these is sold every 12 seconds! Our social media coordinator, Missy, confesses that she uses this product daily, and it is the only concealer that has worked to cover the dark circles under eyes. It is a vegan product but does not skimp on effectiveness in its effort to remain good for the earth. It instantly helps to brighten, tighten, and give your skin a more lifted look.
All the dry shampoo…
There are two clear front runners in this very popular category: Drybar Detox and R+Co Dry Shampoo Mist.
Drybar Detox is such an amazing product, and I have never found a classic dry shampoo product that compares. It is pricey, but if it works, doesn’t that make it worth it? I personally appreciate that they make a version for brunettes as well.
Now, there is only one dry shampoo that can flip me from Drybar, and that is the R+Co Dr Shampoo Mist. This feels like you are simply spraying water on your roots and then it dries and feels like you have actually washed and dried your hair. It is the best my hair has felt after dry shampoo ever.
(Have you ever tried to do dry shampoo the night before then wake up to style your hair? It has been a life changing shift for me. My dear friend Katie told me to do it, and I haven’t looked back!)
Let’s talk brows…
I have thick brows, so I am glad that those are in style these days. However, brow maintenance is super important, and completely new to my everyday routine. I am a serial (every 4 weeks on the dot) waxer, but there are times where desperate times call for… well the Tinkle Eyebrow Razor. This incredible product is for those fine facial hairs (not just brows)! Dallas Moms owner, Krystal Hurst, confessed to me that she hasn’t had a brow wax in years thanks to these razors.
What if your brows aren’t naturally as bushy as mine? Contributor Jordan Canafax swears by the Anastasia Brow Wiz. “I don’t wear very much make-up, but when I feel like dressing up a bit, I love the Anastasia brow wiz – my eye brows are pretty light and it does such a nice job of filling them in with a natural look.”
I wish I could keep going, but I want to hear from readers! What are the products you love that you really cannot live without in your everyday beauty routine. We contributors want to know what we are missing!
