A Dallas Guide to Fall Farms and Mazes


Bask in the sheer Americana of it all when you visit one of the farms surrounding Dallas Fort-Worth this fall. It will definitely get you in that fall harvest spirit. Enjoy corn mazes, hayrides, pumpkin patches, and more!

Blase Family Farm

Location :: 1232 E Fork Dr. Rockwall 75087

Open :: September 26 – November 1, 2020; By Reservation Only for 2020 to adhere to social distancing

Cost :: $9/person (ages 23 months and under are free) – includes petting zoo, hayride, and free hotdog (on weekends) or hayride, petting zoo, and free mini pumpkin. There’s also a hay maze just the right size for little ones.

This is a family-owned farm in the heart of Rockwall. In the summer they are open for blueberry picking, and then they pivot to pumpkins for the fall. The farm is situated on wooded acreage, and all the trees give you a little something different from the usual if you are looking to take pumpkin pics.


Elves Farm

Location :: 601 Harvey Ln., Denison 75020

Open :: October 3 – October 31, 2020; weekends only! Saturday: 10am-5pm, Sunday: 1pm-5pm

Cost :: $10/person – includes all activities and 1 pumpkin from the patch or $5/person if you don’t want a pumpkin

Although most known for their Christmas trees, this farm shouldn’t be overlooked at Halloween, with over 80,000 pounds of pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and specialty pumpkins brought in every year. The pumpkin patch activities include hayrides, maze, farm zoo, hay jump, and dress your own scarecrow stations. They also do pumpkin sling shots for an additional charge; talk about something the kids will love. The farm includes picnic areas, tours, snacks, drinks, gifts, arts and crafts, restrooms, country atmosphere, and free coffee on request.


Gentle Zoo

Open :: October 1 – 31, 2020; Monday-Friday: 9:30am–2pm, Saturday: 9:30am-5:00 pm, Sunday: 9:30am-5pm

Cost :: $6/person (under 12 months are free)

Come for the pumpkin patch, stay for the fun! These guys operate as a rehab and sanctuary for animals, but there is a very farm-y atmosphere to the place. General admission includes a tractor train ride, giant maze, petting zoo, ball pit, and animal room.


Hall’s Pumpkin Farm & Corn Maze

Location :: 3420 Hall Johnson Rd., Grapevine 76051

Open :: October 2 – October 31, 2020; Monday-Thursday: 3-8pm, Friday: 3-9pm, Saturday: 10am-9pm, Sunday: 1-8pm

Cost :: $5/person ages 12+, $3/child ages 4-11, 3 and under are free
$5/person for corn maze & $5/person for hayrides

This true Texas farm began in the 1920’s and is one of the last working farms in the area. Come see pumpkins on the vine and take advantage of the multiple photo ops set up around the grounds. They also have a legit corn maze, some stalks are 9 ft. tall! If you have older children, grab a flashlight and come try the 2-acre maze after dark. FYI, this place is cash only.


Preston Trail Farms (f.k.a. The Big Orange Pumpkin Farm)

Location :: 15102 TX-289, Gunter 75078

Open :: September 26 – November 25, 2020; 8am-8pm, daily

Cost :: $10/person (M-F) and $10/person (weekends + farm train included), children under 2 are free. Includes feed for petting barn, hayride, roping pen, hay maze. M-F you get a free mini pumpkin with admission, and on weekends you get a free hotdog and farm train ride.

For anyone who lives further north in the metroplex or doesn’t mind the drive, Preston Trail Farms has all you need for a great pumpkin patch experience. Formerly the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm of Celina, this family farm picked up and moved just a few miles further north to a bigger location. Enjoy hay bales, mazes, and pumpkins for photos (or purchase), plus a farm animal petting zoo!


Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm

Cost :: Entrance fee $10/person, 2 & under are free!

Shadow Creek Farm celebrates their seasonal opening on September 28th. They’ve got 15 shaded acres of fall farm fun with pumpkins, free games and activities, a petting zoo, chuck wagon full of treats, and lots more. Midlothian sounds far, but it really isn’t, just 30 minutes south of DFW. Admission includes unlimited corn maze entrances, hay rides, petting zoo experiences, hay hill slides, zip line rides, jump pad bounces, pumpkin smashing, picture opportunities, see saws, large yard games, horse shoes, pumpkin tic tac toe, LIVE music, family time, creekside bliss and more!


Yesterland Farm

Location :: 15410 Interstate 20, Canton 75103

Open :: September 19 – November 8, 2020; October Fridays: 6-10pm, Saturday: 10am-10pm, Sunday: 10am-7pm

Spooktacular Nights: Friday and Saturday nights October 2nd – 31st. Activities from dark until close.

Cost :: Pricing varies; $24.95 at the gate but discounts for advanced purchase; ages 2 and under free – admission ticket includes over a dozen farm attractions (like pig races and something called a Candy Cannon) plus unlimited amusement park rides.

You will want the whole day to explore this farm/carnival combo out East. Rock climbing walls, forts, pony rides, amusement rides, face paintings, and movies all in addition to your fall pumpkin patches, a petting zoo, photo props, and corn mazes.     Country Critters Farm, located in Alvarado, just 30 minutes south of Ft. Worth, will celebrate the opening of their annual pumpkin patch on Saturday, Oct. 5th. Pumpkin Patch is open to the public weekends through November 17th, open weekdays by reservation only.
    There’s something for every member of your family. Kids can ride a pony and a barrel train, jump in one of the bounce houses, or play in the playground. The whole family can pet adorable animals in the petting zoo, get lost in the wooden maze, and take a hayride! Everyone will enjoy the old fashioned games and the duck races. Don’t forget the awesome pumpkin patch, where real pumpkins are growing!
