Dallas Fun: A Splashpad Without a Million Kids

2

I don’t know about you, but I am usually terrified to bring my little toddler to a splash park. Those things are like the 90% off Christmas sale at Hobby Lobby. Crazy crowded and vicious! But when it is this hot outside, the baby pool in the backyard gets old…fast!

I have found (well I didn’t have to look far, just around the corner) a splash pad that is hardly EVER crowded on the weekdays. The weekends are a different story, but the weekdays, especially morning and early afternoons are so nice and only filled with a few children and onlooking moms.

Ferguson Road Park has a great, brand new splash pad that is, of course, free! It is large, clean, and free of huge crowds! The ground is cushioned (and not slick), so falls (which are inevitable) are much less dramatic. There are several covered pavilions with picnic tables for snacking or just overseeing if you have bigger, more independent splash pad-goers. Even the parking is easily accessible, which is right off Inadale Ave, right behind Bishop Lynch High School.

So if you are looking for some free fun to beat this dreadful heat, try out this overlooked splash park in East Dallas. You might just run into me there…literally, I play in the water with Kyler to cool off. It’s the only way to go!

Know of any other overlooked splash parks in the Dallas area? Will you be splashing away with your kids or onlooking from the picnic tables??
