A Day in the Life of a Dallas Mom at Long Cove on Cedar Creek

Dallas Moms Blog has partnered with Long Cove at Cedar Creek Lake for this sponsored post. All opinions are 100% our own!

This past weekend, eight Dallas Moms Blog families were invited out to experience a Saturday on Cedar Creek Lake. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been sharing details of Long Cove and this incredible lakeside community with you — its family convieniences and multi-generational experiences, but it was time for us to bring our families out and give it a try for ourselves! While I wish I could say we were given the “royal treatment,” the truth is we weren’t treated any differently than your average Long Cove resident. Thanks to our DMB contributors for providing photos of their experience so we can give you a glimpse at what it would be like to own a property at Long Cove on Cedar Creek Lake!

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, each summer day at Long Cove should begin poolside. The Club House is currently the center of excitement as it’s direct access to all different types of water fun. Even in 100 degrees, most of us hardly noticed the heat as we found multiple ways to keep cool! As Long Cove grows, each area of the community will have their own Club House with identical amenities that include:

  • Access to the tiered pool, hot tub, and 125′ water slide

  • Access to the Club Room with large screen TV & fireplace for family game nights or private parties

  • A state of the art fitness room

  • Access to the Family Game Room with big screen TV’s, pool table and table tennis (all visible to the pool)

  • Use of the Outdoor Kitchen for BBQ’s

  • And of course, a Long Cove PRIVATE, white-sand beach area

We knew leading up to that weekend that Long Cove was providing lunch (as they do every Saturday for their residents), but what we weren’t prepared for was how thought-out and organized the meal would be. Each Saturday, the staff at Long Cove sets out a wide buffet from 12pm-2pm for residents to come and enjoy at their leisure. The surprising part was this buffet wasn’t your typical cold cuts and cheese. The day’s theme was Greek and we were able to choose between Chicken and Beef Tenderloin Kabobs, Greek Pasta Salad, and Spinach & Feta CousCous. For a light snack, Tabouli or hummus with pita and veggies with Tzatski. But that was just the adult menu! Kids were treated to freshly grilled hot dogs, watermelon, PB&J triangles or Turkey & Cheese sandwiches.

Cold beverages and refreshments were continually iced down; from the teas, fruit infused water, and lemonade to the coolers of assorted beers, sodas, and water bottles.

The buffet was constantly restocked until 2pm and there was no fear of food running out. Once you’d had your fill, it was important to make a stop by the ice cream cart to keep your energy going! Drumsticks, orange creamsicles, fruit pops, and orange slushes were the big hits for the kids . . . and for mom and dad, the Margarita Machine that kept spinning all day.

Several of our families decided to take a break from the pool (which was an extremely difficult decision) and head out to explore the other features of the property.

Activities to take advantage of on-site for property owners include:

  • Long Cove’s Toy Barn where families can check out everything from sports equipment to bicycles to fishing poles

  • A Golf “Proving Grounds” Practice and Short Course that appeals to both family games and serious golfers

  • 500 acres of hiking trails

  • A lakeview Amphitheater for special live performances and activities like movies under the stars

  • Access to Tennis & Sports courts, plus football-sized fields for playing

We had a fantastic day exploring Long Cove and wished we could have spent the entire weekend discovering everything they have to offer! Although, a few families were able to stick around for their poolside “Porching Hour” with signature Long Cove Iced Teas, many of us had to head back to our lives in Dallas for naptimes and dinner.  Thankfully, the trip to Long Cove is just over an hour for most of us living in the Richardson and North Dallas areas — and just under an hour for those in East Dallas.  After a long day in the sun, a short ride home made the whole experience that much more enjoyable! No long car rides or multiple potty breaks.

Now. . .we know that many of our readers are probably not in the stage of life where a second home or vacation property is in their immediate future. As moms spending the day together, many of our contributors were intrigued and it opened up conversations with friends and spouses about future goals and even unique possibilities to spend more time with extended family members who don’t live in the area. By partnering with Long Cove, we hope to provide you with a realistic view of what the lakeside property has to offer for when you are ready to make that investment on your own or with a group of friends and family.

Long Cove strives to make their privately-owned community a desirable location for families looking for a home-away-from-home that needs to entertain those of all ages. They provide everything for a multi-generational family with special homesites for waterside cottages and lakefront homes which can all be built-to-suit, accommodating the unique needs of each resident. But the best part, they also offer family compounds for those who are looking for a way to be closer together!

So when you’re ready, if you’d like to know more information about Long Cove’s luxury waterside cottages or lakefront homesites that are available, contact Josh Ellis at 214-220-9992 or [email protected] You can also visit their website or find them on Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter.
