10 Activities to Teach Kids Gratitude

10 Activities to Teach Kids Gratitude

With the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaching, there’s the constant reminder to be thankful for the blessings that we have. But getting kids to understand the concept of gratitude can be challenging, so we’ve put together a list of 10 Activities to Teach Kids Gratitude.

Family Thanksgiving Journal

This is such a fun idea from Kids Activities Blog. Write down what your family is thankful for each holiday season, and read entries from years past. It will quickly become a family tradition and a keepsake that you’ll treasure.

Child’s Thankgiving Tree

This colorful activity from Crafts by Amanda is definitely on my list to make. I love the idea of tracing your child’s hand as the leaves on the tree, then writing what they’re thankful for on the leaves.

The ABCs of Thanksgiving

These free printable pages from This Reading Mama are so fun! There’s a version for younger children to draw something they’re thankful for that begins with each letter. And there’s a version for older children with space for a drawing and a sentence or two. This would be a great homeschool activity, too!

Give Thanks Calendar Craft

A fun craft from Comfy in the Kitchen that gets the whole family involved! Express your gratitude every day of the month and display it in a fun way.

Thanksgiving Coloring Pages

This cute printable from Nurture Store would be a great activity for the kids’ table at Thanksgiving.

Thankful Turkey Box

A great project from I Heart Crafty Things that you can do with your kids during the month, or on Thanksgiving. I would collect “gratitudes” all month long, then pull them from the box to read at dinner!

Thankful Books for Kids

I love this idea from My Scraps. Your children can play detective on Thanksgiving day and find out what everyone is grateful for.

“I am Thankful” Pumpkin Craft

This fun project from The Moffatt Girls could be made any time during the fall. I like that it incorporates gratitude in a way that isn’t too Thanksgiving-y.

Turkey Thank You Cards

Teach your kids the art of writing Thank You notes early with this fun craft from Decoart. They could send notes to grandparents and other family members who attended Thanksgiving dinner — or use these cards as gifts at the dinner telling guests why your family is thankful to have them in your life. I love the addition of fingerprint art to the cards!

Thankful Cookies

These sweet treats from The Nerd’s Wife will get your kiddos thinking about their blessings at the dinner table. Use edible markers to let them write down their gratitude before gobbling it up!
